Sorry for not updating this more often but i've been busy and lazy (mostly lazy) but i'll try to do a better job in the future....
We were sitting at Annenberg today (dining hall) trying not to think about the intolerable "food" that we were eating, and we ended up having a really cool conversation about our favorite cartoons from back in the day. I don't mean shows like the Simpsons or Family Guy, I mean the old school saturday morning cartoons from the Cartoon Train on USA and the after school cartoons that are WAY better than the nonsense that they show on tv today. As we were talking about this we started coming up with lists of our favorite shows. This may sound like an easy thing to do but once you start remembering all the shows that used to be on tv it gets to be quite hard. And as you can imagine there were varying opinions and lots of disagreement, especially between the guys and girls. So i decided to post my top 5 list here and hopefully you guys will add some comments and share your favorite old school cartoons. Here goes...
1. Thundercats- For me this was the easiest choice to make. You just can't beat "Thunder, Thunder, Thundercats Ooooooohhhhhh". Even now i still try to occasionally catch Thundercats reruns on the Cartoon Network (and no i'm not ashamed to admit it).
2. Transformers- Chosing the number 2 was tough because it came down to Transformers and GI Joe. Both are awesome in their own right but Transformers wins by the slimmest of margins because its movie and toys were slightly ahead of GI Joe's.
3. GI Joe- See above
4. Duck Tales- Yes, I realize that this doesn't fit in with my top 3 choices. No weapons, no violence, etc ....but I just loved Ducktales when I was younger. Also I had to throw in a comedy-type cartoon to mix things up a little bit. Maybe it's the cool intro song or the amazing money vault that they would swim in....I don't really have a good explanation for it but nevertheless it's one of my favorites.
This is where things got really tough. The top 4 were far and away my favorites but yet there are so many other amazing cartoons to chose from....X-Men, Tailspin, Yogi and Bubu (spelling?), Superman, Batman, the Smurfs, the Jetsons, the Flintstones, Inspector Gadget, Mighty Mouse, Tom and Jerry, Looney Toons, Alvin and the Chipmunks...the list goes on and on. But since I have to chose one I'm going to go with..........
5. X-Men- Awesome comic book, awesome cartoon, awesome movies. Wolverine is my favorite comic book hero of all-time so X-Men gets the nod over the other equally deserving shows.
So that's my list....Love it or hate it, leave some comments and share your top picks. Forget how old you are for a few minutes and drift back to those wonderful saturday mornings and weekday afternoons and relive those carefree days...
As it seems my earlier post did not work here goes a second time.
THUNDERCATS NUMBER ONE? are you nuts? no way dude. GI Joe and Transformers are tied for first in my book. Thundercats didnt last nearly as long and didnt have nearly as many cool action figures and toys. You could bankrupt your parents asking for authentic GI Joe toys and real transformers and not those crappy knock offs. There were so many of them and they were all pretty cool. I also can't beleive He-Man, Master of the Universe and Voltron Protector of the Galaxy didnt make it onto your list. Both were awesome 'toons that deserve at least honorable mention if not top 5 listing. Yet still you should have had a category for the cracked out wussy cartoons like CareBears, My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake. Seriously WTF was up with these guys. If those care bears were so full of love how ironic is it that they would inflict pain on their enemies? and how weird was it that some chick lived in a world poplulated only by fatty foods? its no wonder so many people have weight problems today if they had that as their role model. anyway, ill stop now as this is just a comment form and not my own blog.

I'll keep this concise...and definitive.
1. Transformers
2. Batman - The Animated Series
3. G.I. Joe
4. The Smurfs.
5. The Animaniacs
Now, I didn't include this next cartoon (or rather a set of cartoons) because they aren't really from "our" childhood. Leaving this cartoon off of an overall best of list is like leaving the Beatles off an all time best Rockn'Roll list.
The number one cartoon show of all time is.....LOONEY TOONS. Lest we forget they gave us: Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, The Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, Marvin the Martian...and the list goes on. So like Bry said, this isn't my blog so I'll stop here.
