I had my first my first law school exam today (Torts)...not
quite sure how I did. It's hard to say with these tests and my grade
could probably fall in anywhere from B to F. It was a four hour exam- one
hour to read and outline and three to write. The actual hypo itself
was pretty cool-it had to do with the Pacers-Pistons brawl but the questions
themselves were quite brutal. Unfortunately I misunderstood the
first question and spent the roughly 30 minutes writing on an unrelated subject
and then had to scratch out three pages of blue book writing. When I
discovered my mistake I just about had a panic attack, and as a result I had to
rush through the rest of the exam and I honestly can't even remember what I
wrote. The most frustrating part is how much time I spend studying.
I studied for eight days for this exam and had so much information tucked into
every corner of my brain that when it came time to actually recall particular
details for the test I couldn't do it. Not to mention the fact that
we covered and had to learn roughly 800 pages of material but were only tested
on about 50 of those pages. Hopefully I didn't fail and I still have three tests with which to redeem
myself.
After spending the entirety of the last few days huddle in the same study room
in the library I figured that I could use a night out so a group of us headed
over to Sunset Tavern, a "college" type bar close to my place.
It was so relaxing having a few drinks and thinking about something other than
Torts for a change; the last few days I had subconsciously started analyzing
everything under Tort rules and no matter what I tried I couldn't stop myself from
doing it. Walking to the cafeteria I almost slipped after stepping in a
puddle of spilled smoothie and Drew and I spend the next 15 minutes what Tort
actions would have arisen if I had actually fallen.
Thankfully Torts is over, but now I have Elements to look forward to on
Tuesday. However, before that studying can begin there is the not-so-
small matter of the ACC football championship game being played here tomorrow;
well not really a "championship" game in the traditional sense but if
UM beats VA Tech tomorrow we win the ACC and likely go to the Fiesta
Bowl. So Go Canes!!! Hokies suck!
