What was supposed to be a lazy morning for me and a late start to my work day turned into morning filled with anger and resentment. As all of us know by know, early this morning 4 coordinated terrorist attacks took place in London, killing and injuring many good people that did nothing to deserve what happened to them, and were simply and innocently trying to go about their daily business whether it was going to work or running errands. Once again Al-Qaeda has reared it's ugly and disgusting head, engaging in a cowardly attack that further shows how evil and barbaric these people truly are.
Even though I have only been to London once, I can confidently say that it is my favorite city in the world. The people that live there, as well as all other inhabitants of the British Isles, are good people. Throughout their history they had to endure many trials and tribulations, whether it was the Roman or Viking invasions hundreds of years ago, the year-long bombing campaign known as "The Blitz" by the Nazis during WWII that left London in ruins and cinders, or the hit and run attacks that were carried out by the IRA from the 70'-90's. Throughout all of these difficult times the British have always been steadfast and resilient in the face of adversity. They have not let others affect the way that they live their daily lives and I do not expect these brutal attacks to change that. The people of London will go about their daily lives, if only to show the murdering terrorists that they will not be defeated. With chins held high and a stiff upper lip, the people of Britain will once again emerge from a tragic event and show the world their courage and resiliency. Tony Blair and the British people stood side by side with us on September 11th and we will do the same for them. You are in our hearts and prayers and you are not alone!
"All of our countries have suffered from the impact of terrorism.
Those responsible have no respect for human life. We are united in our
resolve to confront and defeat this terrorism that is not an attack on
one nation, but all nations and on civilized people everywhere. -Tony Blair, July 7, 2005
